Well, when our opponents and the media look at our public FEC report, that donor count tells them whether this campaign has real grassroots strength — or if we're relying on just a handful of wealthy supporters (like the other guy in the race).
Roy's never won that way, and he's not starting now.
The truth is, our average online donation is usually somewhere around $25. More than 90% of contributions to this campaign are $100 or less. That's exactly how it should be, because this is a people-powered movement.

The first $7,000 of each contribution from a person and the first $10,000 from a multicandidate committee (“PAC”) will be allocated to Cooper for North Carolina. The first $3,500 of a person’s contribution and the first $5,000 of a PAC’s contribution will be designated for the primary election; the next $3,500/$5,000 will be designated for the general election. The next $10,000 from a person and $5,000 from a PAC will be allocated to North Carolina Democratic Party – Federal. The next $44,300 of a contribution from a person and the next $15,000 from a PAC will be allocated to the DSCC General Fund. The next $132,900 from a person and the next $45,000 from a PAC will be allocated to the DSCC Headquarters Fund. The next $132,900 from a person and the next $45,000 from a PAC will be allocated to the DSCC Legal Fund. A contributor may designate his or her contribution for a particular participant. The allocation formula above may change if following it would result in an excessive contribution.
