The institution of policing maintains historical inequities across race, class, and gender while failing to provide safety for our communities. The rise of formal law enforcement agencies on the local, state, and federal levels increase instances of violence, extrajudicial murder, and incarceration for Black and non-Black communities of color. Police do not keep us safe and do not belong on our college and university campuses. Join UnKoch My Campus and students in our network for a “History of Police Workshop” on July 30th at 3:00 pm ET. Together we will discuss the historical implications of policing and why any form of policing must be replaced with community care. We keep us safe.
