Folks, when I was elected as a first-term Democrat in a traditionally Republican district, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t have anyone to ask either -- I’m the first Democrat to represent this area in a generation.
Now I know.
National Republicans scrutinize my every move. They attacked me for simply being photographed with my freshman class in Congress.
The National Republican Congressional Committee publishes press releases calling me “unfit” and “unhinged.” GOP dark money groups have already spent $1 million running misleading attack ads against me this cycle. The chair of the Republican National Committee even lives in my district.
They work full-time to distort my record and disparage this campaign.
But I know the voters in Michigan’s 11th District aren’t buying it.
We came together in 2018 and built an undeniable movement that flipped this Trump seat blue. But national Republicans refuse to accept their loss. They’ll launch whatever over-the-top attacks they can to try to win this seat back by distracting from the real issues this race is about.
Because national Republicans aren’t interested in the people of Michigan’s 11th District or what we’ve accomplished together over the past year and a half -- they’re interested in demolishing our Democratic House Majority and propping up Trump.
That’s why I’m humbly asking you to help us demonstrate that their bullying won’t scare us off. Will you chip in before our end-of-month deadline to show that we’re focused on what really matters -- not petty attacks?
Donald Trump won this seat by 4 points. He knows that any possible path to his re-election leads through Michigan, and he’s desperate to win here. That’s why he personally tried to interfere in our race.
But this seat doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It doesn’t belong to national Republicans. And it doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to the people.
Together, we the people are powerful -- let’s show them our strength. Will you chip in to let outside Republican groups know that this seat isn’t theirs for the taking?
We can do this together,
Haley
