In Congress, Abby signed H.R. 986, the Protecting Americans with Preexisting Conditions Act of 2019, because NO ONE should be forced to choose between taking care of their family members and going bankrupt affording medical care.

Unfortunately, the administration put out a new guidance that lets families get tricked into buying “junk” health insurance plans that DON’T protect folks with pre-existing conditions.

Republicans are still trying to dismantle the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Throwing out the ACA would mean for-profit insurance companies will have full control over who qualifies for coverage, putting 1,288,400 Iowans -- and 130 million Americans -- with pre-existing conditions in danger.
