It’s time Congress act to remove her from her post
John,
Alex Pretti was 37 years old. He was an ICU nurse for the Veterans Administration who dedicated his life to caring for those who served our country.
On January 24, he was shot dead by ICE agents while peacefully protesting in Minneapolis. I am heartbroken for Alex’s family, but I am also seething with rage. This was a heinous killing that never should have happened.
At the direction of Donald Trump, ICE is functioning as a masked military force, sowing chaos, violence, and disorder wherever they deploy.
When federal agents act like a paramilitary group with zero accountability, tragedies like this are the inevitable, horrific result. Everyone involved in this killing must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law — but we must also hold the leadership accountable for creating this culture of violence. That starts at the top with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
You sent me to Washington to be a voice for the most vulnerable Americans, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. It’s what I’ve been doing my entire career in public office. That’s why I’ve been on the ground protesting against ICE’s continued presence in Minneapolis and communities across the country.
