Weekly Poll

I ask. You answer.

Question: How satisfied are you with the progress of Congress in codifying President Trump's Executive Orders?

House Republicans have codified over 70 of President Trump’s executive orders. This is 31% of President Trump’s Executive Orders. Congress under the Biden Administration did not even come close to codifying that percentage of Biden’s Executive Orders. House Republicans are ensuring that President Trump’s America First Agenda stays the law of the land even after Trump leaves office. I am honored to be a part of making history and supporting President Trump through my role in Congress.

Funding the Government

This week, House Republicans passed more legislation to fund the government for Fiscal Year 2026. Eleven of the twelve bills have now been signed into law. Next, we will be working on funding the Department of Homeland Security. Democrats have continually shown that they are willing to put important resources for our communities on the line for their political agenda. Watch my video below to learn more:

An Update on the Border

Last month, we celebrated the successes of President Trump and Republicans over the past year. As the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement, I am honored to have worked alongside President Trump to deliver results. We have seen so much success that I wanted to highlight some of the monthly wins over the past year.

Encounters at ports of entry along the Southwest border dropped 93% in the 11 days after January 20, 2025 (when President Trump took office), compared to the last 11 days of President Biden’s term.  On January 20, 2025, the Trump Administration ended the Biden-Harris Administration’s use of CBP One. The Trump Administration also terminated all categorical parole programs. Ultimately, January 2025 saw encounters down by 36% from December 2024.

Legislation on the Floor This Week

Senate Amendment to H.R. 7148 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026

-

The Senate passed amendments to H.R. 7148 on January 30, 2026, by a vote of 71–29. The House later adopted H. Res. 1032 by a vote of 217–215, allowing the House to consider the legislation. This bill funds most federal government operations for fiscal year 2026, excluding the Department of Homeland Security. The legislation includes funding for the Department of Defense; the Department of State and related national security programs; the Department of Health and Human Services; the Department of Education; the Department of Transportation; the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and the general operations of federal agencies through the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act. President Trump signed this bill into law on Tuesday evening.

H.J. Res. 142 – Disapproving the action of the District of Columbia Council in approving the D.C. Income and Franchise Tax Conformity and Revision Temporary Amendment Act of 2025

 -

H.J. Res. 142 would prohibit the enactment of the D.C. Income and Franchise Tax Conformity and Revision Temporary Amendment Act of 2025, D.C. Council legislation that fully decouples the D.C. local tax code from specific federal tax-related provisions enacted under the Working Families Tax Cut Act for the 2025 tax year. H.J. 142 represents an important step in ensuring District residents and businesses receive the full tax reform benefits provided under the Working Families Tax Cut Act by disapproving the Council’s misguided legislation.

H.R. 4090 – Critical Mineral Dominance Act

-

H.R. 4090 would codify provisions of three of President Trump’s Executive Orders that fall within the House Committee on Natural Resources’ jurisdiction and require new studies that support underlying mineral production and supply chain objectives identified by the Trump Administration.

America 250 Trivia

Which Signer of the Declaration of Independence worked alongside Governor Trumbull of Connecticut to help publish and circulate patriot writings?

Watch for more Fun Fact Fridays and the next eNewsletter for the answer to this question. Find the answer to last week’s question below:

James Wilson was one of the only signers who signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. He was one of the chief architects of the Constitution and was one of the first Justices appointed to the Supreme Court by President George Washington.

Poll Results

Last week, I asked how satisfied you were with the cost of living, and 70% of you said you were unsatisfied. The Working Families Tax Cuts lower taxes across our nation, ensuring that the average American is able to save $4,000 in 2026. This bill also delivers the largest tax cut in history for middle- and working-class Americans and secures bigger paychecks, boosting the take-home pay for hardworking typical families by OVER $10,000 a year. These tax cuts will ensure that families will be able to afford more and bring down the cost of living.
