News from Congressman Jake Ellzey

Dear John,

Recent News

Here in Washington, I kicked off the year by holding a hearing with the Small Business Subcommittee on Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chains. As Chairman of the subcommittee, I was honored to welcome Chris Crosby, CEO of Compass Datacenters based in Dallas, Texas, and Kirk Offell, CEO of Overwatch Mission Critical based in Austin, Texas, to discuss Empowering Rural America Through Investment in Innovation.

During their testimony, Mr. Crosby and Mr. Offell shared their expertise on the importance of data centers and the growing need for digital infrastructure. Texas is at the forefront of data center growth because of our pro-growth, pro-energy approach and the strength of our small business community, which provides essential support by supplying, maintaining, and servicing these facilities.

From construction to infrastructure upgrades, data centers create new opportunities for Main Street entrepreneurs and skilled trade workers to be part of the next generation of technological advancement. I look forward to leading the conversation in Washington on how rural communities can help drive this growth and play a central role in building our nation’s future.

Republicans delivered in Washington, and it matters back home. The House acted to stop a partial government shutdown and keep the lights on for families, workers, small businesses, and communities across the country. House Republicans stepped up and delivered, passing 11 of the 12 annual appropriations bills and funding roughly 96 percent of the federal government.

That is not talk. That is results. For the first time in years, Congress is moving back toward regular order by debating and passing individual funding bills, restoring accountability, and proving that governing responsibly is still possible. This is exactly what Texans expect when they send us to Washington.

There is one bill left, Homeland Security, and it is critical. This funding supports Border Patrol, ICE, TSA, the Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and FEMA. It affects border security, disaster response, aviation safety, and the men and women who put on the uniform every day to keep our communities safe.

The job is not finished yet, but this vote shows what can happen when we focus on solutions instead of chaos. House Republicans are pressing the Senate and the White House to keep negotiating in good faith so we can finish the job, secure our borders, protect our communities, and keep the government working for the American people.

District Update

At the start of the New Year, it was an honor to join Secretary Hegseth and my North Texas colleagues in recognizing the dedicated men and women at Lockheed Martin who help build the Arsenal of Freedom right here at home. From the F-35 and F-16 to Patriot missile systems, their work strengthens our national defense, protects our service members, and makes the world a safer place.

In 2025, my office launched a new initiative, the Future Leaders Program. This program is designed to bring together high school junior and seniors from across our TX-06 to connect them with accomplished men and women across business, public service, and community leadership. Through this experience, the students gained real-world insight into leadership, service, and civic engagement.

To kick off this program I was honored to welcome 25 student from across the district to participate! The students came together to learn more about the inner workings of a congressional office, participated in a roundtable discussion with a Blue Angel, and heard from guest speakers on various topics.

At the final session, I had the opportunity to sit down with all the students to discuss what it truly means to serve as a Member of Congress and to answer their thoughtful questions about leadership and public service. The students asked thoughtful, insightful questions, and it was a pleasure to hear their perspectives and learn what matters most to them.

The Future Leaders Program is now accepting applications for the spring semester. For more information, please contact our Waxahachie District Office.

Now Accepting Nominations: Congressional Veteran Commendation

The Congressional Veteran Commendation is a nominations-based program honoring the military service and continued community service of Veterans living in Texas’ 6th Congressional District. This recognition celebrates exceptional individuals who have honorably served our nation in the United States Armed Forces (including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, and Coast Guard), and who continue to make a difference beyond their time in uniform.

Veterans may nominate themselves, or they may be nominated by someone else with their permission. Recipients of the Congressional Veteran Commendation will be formally honored later this fall. To nominate a Veteran, visit our website, click on Services, and select Congressional Veteran Commendation. After you submit the form, a nomination packet will be sent to your email.

Help us recognize the service and continued impact of the Veterans in our community.
