Today, we’re thrilled to share our 2025 Impact Report with you!

Before we dive in to share the powerful impact our community made last year, we want to acknowledge that 2025 was a challenging year. We’ve seen families face real harm, unlawful detentions, layoffs, rising costs of living, and continued attacks on our rights from those in power.

And yet, thousands of you showed up and took action, again and again, to build brighter futures for communities across the country.

Because of your support, States Win (formerly Sister District) raised nearly $800K for state legislative candidates. Last year, volunteers made nearly 1.4 million voter contacts through phone calls, postcards, and door conversations, and organized 523 volunteer events to elect 23 candidates across 4 states.

Together, our work delivered thrilling victories:

Securing the largest majority in the Virginia House of Delegates in nearly 40 years
Breaking the Republican supermajority in the Mississippi Senate and the Iowa Senate
Holding the Democratic Majority in the Minnesota Senate and the Virginia Senate
Electing a record number of Democratic women of color in the Virginia House
Electing the first Chinese American to the Virginia House of Delegates
Securing a Democratic trifecta in Virginia with the first woman governor in state history
Electing the first Muslim woman to statewide office in the country
Electing a record number of Democratic women in the Virginia House — more than all of the Republicans in the chamber combined

These wins — driven by the hard work of staff, volunteers, and supporters — didn’t happen overnight. Too often in politics, people chase the quick fix or the splashy headline. But we know that it is the consistent investment of time and resources that builds infrastructure, develops leaders, and brings about real change, and these victories are a reflection of that long-haul work!

As we look ahead to 2026, we know much of the national focus will be on taking back Congress, and that is a critical priority. But if 2025 showed us one thing, it’s that the real progress our communities need also lives in our state houses.
