Governor DeWine Appoints Clary to the Eighth District Court of Appeals
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Timothy W. Clary to the Eighth District Court of Appeals.
Clary, of Cleveland Heights, will assume office on February 17, 2026, and will take the seat formerly held by Judge Mary Eileen Kilbane, who retired. He will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and must run for election in November 2026 to retain the seat.
Clary began his law career in 2012, serving as an associate at Climaco, Wilcox, Peca, Tarantino & Garofoli Co. In 2014, Clary served as an assistant prosecutor for the Children & Family Services Unit of the Family Law Division of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office. Clary served as an assistant prosecutor in the General Felony Unit of the Criminal Division of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office starting in 2019. Clary served as an assistant Cuyahoga County Public Defender in 2023. In 2024, Clary was a Judge in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He is currently serving as an assistant prosecutor in the Civil Division of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.
In 2006, Clary received a bachelor’s degree in history from John Carroll University. He received his juris doctor from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, in 2011. Clary is also a proud graduate of Saint Ignatius High School.
