Last month, H.R. 6938, the appropriations legislation which includes $50 million for the Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI) and more than $40 million in earmarks related to violence intervention and prevention for Fiscal Year 2026, was signed into law with bipartisan support.

It is a HUGE victory that Congress has continued to provide funding for CVI work, but there is more work ahead of us to ensure that this funding is directed to community-based organizations in the Black and Brown communities that need these resources the most.
