NYT: Trump, in an Escalation, Calls for Republicans to ‘Nationalize’ Elections [[link removed]]
Donald Trump called in a recent interview for the Republican Party to “nationalize” voting in the United States. This comes after months of "jokes" and other threats about his administration’s efforts to be involved in election matters, despite the Constitution granting that power to the states.
“The Republicans should say, ‘We want to take over.’ We should take over the voting, the voting in at least many — 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting.”
Trump made the statement on a podcast hosted by Dan Bongino, his former deputy F.B.I. director and a MAGA acolyte with a long history of election denial and spreading conspiracy theories related to our elections.
Let's recap recent history -- His administration has been:
* Attempting to seize control of voters’ private information
* Deploying immigration agents to states that don't give up voter data
* Using federal law enforcement agents to investigate his obsession with his loss in 2020
* Staffing his agencies with people who care more about pleasing him than following the law
This is all setting a very dangerous stage for the upcoming election , the results of which will determine not just the composition of Congress and state offices, but the future of our elections as we know them.

Think this is just Trump"joking" again? Former senior advisor to President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, said this week that “ We’re going to have ICE surround the polls come November. We’re not going to sit here and allow you to steal the country again. ”
Listen, the Constitution could not be more clear: The authority for administering our elections is vested in the states , not the federal government. Any attempt to remove state and local control over elections is a four-alarm fire for our democracy. Sending ICE to surround polling places is blatantly unconstitutional.
The warning signs couldn't be more visible , and the alarms couldn't be louder, yet the mainstream media keeps ignoring this story, glossing over it to chase shiny objects. It's our responsibility to inform voters and stand up for our fundamental right to vote.
Help us fight the MAGA vote suppressors with $35 or whatever you can and make every vote count this November around the country >> [[link removed]]

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
