Folks, Trump has been hammering the Fed to cut interest rates.
But Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell won't bend because it could cause more inflation.
Now, Powell is facing a criminal investigation, and Trump is threatening to remove him as chair.
That's not accountability. That's bullying.
An independent central bank is a cornerstone of a strong economy. It keeps politicians from juicing the system for short-term gain and leaving regular people to pay the price later.
Undermine that independence, and you put us on the road to financial chaos.
We need a fully independent Federal Reserve, one that can’t be strongarmed by any administration – Democrat or Republican.
Powell isn’t some partisan hack. He was appointed by Trump. Kept on by Biden. He helped steer the economy through the pandemic and bring inflation down. He’s done the job.
And now he’s being targeted for it.
This is not okay. Not in America. We need to sound the alarm: Will you be one of the 20,000 signatures we need by midnight to stand with Jerome Powell?
