As ICE descends on our communities, murdering U.S. citizens and ripping
families apart, Bernie is leading the way with a response: an amendment to
strip ICE of $75 BILLION in funding and reallocate those funds to Medicaid
to prevent hundreds of thousands of Americans from losing the healthcare
they desperately need.

The amendment was just two votes shy, but even a few Republicans broke
ranks to support the idea. That’s not a sign of defeat. It’s evidence that

ICE’s budget has SKYROCKETED under Trump – flooded with money for raids,
family separations, and private for-profit detention centers. To pay for
it, Republicans passed the biggest cuts to Medicaid in HISTORY last year.
And now, while ICE spends billions to rip families apart, patients ration
insulin, families crowd emergency rooms, and entire communities are left
without doctors.

Bernie’s amendment would have reversed the reckless $75 billion ICE
windfall that was part of Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” and redirected it
