| John,
Over the past few days, I’ve been on television talking about something that should concern every Minnesotan.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter demanding that Minnesota hand over private voter data, including Social Security and driver’s license information, in exchange for deescalating the ICE siege. I called it what it is: a ransom note.
And my answer is still no.
This demand is unlawful, coercive, and deeply dangerous. The federal government does not get to threaten states or exploit fear to obtain private data.
If you support this pushback, I need your help. Will you chip in $10 or more today to help me keep defending the rule of law and voter privacy?

Let me be clear about what’s happening.
This letter did not come with allegations of wrongdoing. It did not come with evidence. And it did not come with any explanation of how private voter data would be used or protected.
Instead, it came tied to federal actions in our state and implied that cooperation was the price of peace. That is not how democracy works.
Minnesota’s elections are fair, accurate, honest, and secure. They are run by local officials who follow the law and serve their communities with integrity. My office has already explained, in detail, how we manage voter registration securely and lawfully. We have even offered to share information that is already public.
The DOJ refused.
Thirty-one states have now said no to similar demands. Courts have already dismissed the DOJ’s claims in multiple cases. And yet, the pressure continues.
That’s why I’m speaking out. And that’s why I’m going on national television to make sure the truth is heard.
But these fights don’t end with one interview or one statement. They take time, resources, and visible public support.
If you believe the law matters.
If you believe voter privacy matters.
If you believe Minnesota should never be coerced into giving up its rights.
Please chip in $10 or whatever you can today to help me stand firm.
Thank you for supporting me,
Steve
