Associated Press: Extremists kill 162 in Nigeria village attacks, lawmaker says

Armed extremists killed at least 162 people during attacks on two villages in western Nigeria, a lawmaker said Wednesday, in one of the deadliest assaults in recent months. The attacks targeted the villages of Woro and Nuku in the state of Kwara on Tuesday evening, Mohammed Omar Bio, a member of parliament representing the area, told The Associated Press.

The U.S. has yet to secure funding commitments for its Gaza reconstruction plan as potential donors voice concerns that disagreements over Hamas disarmament could lead Israel to resume full-scale war in the enclave, sources told Reuters. Hamas laying down its weapons is a key requirement under Donald Trump's plan to end the Gaza war. Shortly after a student was killed in a fatal accident involving a school maintenance vehicle, the board for Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) held a closed-door safety training for staff in which dozens of actors simulated parents unleashing "terrorist activity," according to a report. Nick Minock, a reporter for Washington, D.C., area outlet ABC7, posted on X that the controversial Virginia school board hired 30 actors to portray Loudoun County parents in a mock terror attack scenario.

 

New York Sun: Transgender White Supremacist Terrorist Sues Bureau of Prisons Seeking Transfer to Women’s Prison

A transgender terrorist serving a 53-year federal sentence for bombing a Minnesota Islamic Center is suing the Bureau of Prisons, alleging sex discrimination because he now identifies as a woman. Emily Claire Hari — formerly known as Michael Hari — was convicted in 2021 of bombing the Dar al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington in what the judge described as a “highly sophisticated and premeditated act of domestic terrorism.”Hari established a terrorist militia group called the White Rabbits in Clarence, Illinois and recruited others to join. He and several others drove in a rented pickup truck to Minnesota to bomb the DAF Islamic Center.

Fox News: Two convicted of terrorism in Denmark for grenade attack near Israeli Embassy

Two Swedes were convicted in a Danish court of terrorism and attempted murder for detonating two hand grenades near the Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen in October 2024. The younger of the two men, who is 18 years old, was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while his older accomplice, aged 21, was sentenced to 14 years, according to The Associated Press, which cited Swedish news agency TT. The two men, who have not been identified, were said to be acting on behalf of a criminal gang, the AP reported.

NBC News: Paris prosecutors summon Elon Musk after raid on X's French offices

Prosecutors in Paris said they asked Elon Musk to appear for questioning as part of an investigation into the distribution of sexual deepfakes and Holocaust denial content, after searching X's offices in the French capital early Tuesday. The search was carried out by the prosecutor's cybercrime unit, in partnership with French police's own cybercrime unit and Europol, the office said on X.

 

Le Monde: Le Pen's appeal trial: Prosecution puts far-right leader's 2027 presidential bid in further jeopardy

A devout Catholic, Marine Le Pen is now praying for a judicial "miracle." The prosecution's unyielding closing argument, delivered at a Paris appeals court on Tuesday, February 3, brought the far-right leader back to the common reality of law and justice. Prosecutors Thierry Ramonatxo and Stéphane Madoz-Blanchet requested that she be sentenced to four years in prison, with three suspended, a €100,000 fine, and a five-year ban on being elected to public office. Their requests were only slightly more lenient than the initial sentence, handed down by a criminal court on March 31, 2025. Le Pen is accused of embezzling public funds for suspected fake jobs at the European Parliament.

AFP: German Far-right MP Detained Over Alleged Belarus Sanctions Breach

German police detained a regional lawmaker of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) in a state parliament Wednesday for questioning about a suspected breach of EU export sanctions on Belarus. A photo in the Bild newspaper showed Joerg Dornau, 56, a businessman and MP for the Moscow-friendly party in the eastern state of Saxony, being led out of the state parliament's debating chamber.

The moderate Socialist candidate is poised for a decisive victory over the populist far-right leader in Sunday's presidential election run-off in Portugal, according to a new poll. Antonio Jose Seguro, ex-Socialist leader, leads with 67% in voting intentions, versus 33% for the leader of anti-establishment Chega, Andre Ventura, according to the survey by Catolica University pollsters released by broadcaster RTP late Tuesday.

Jerusalem Post: Orthodox Jewish man punched, insulted in antisemitic attack in Zurich

The Mayor of Zurich and the city council have condemned an antisemitic attack on a religious Jewish man on Monday as “shocking.” On Monday evening, a 26-year-old Orthodox Jewish man was punched after leaving his house in Wiedikon, Zurich. The attacker – a 40-year-old Kosovan – made antisemitic statements during the assault. Several passers-by intervened, overpowered the attacker, and held him on the ground until the police arrived. He continued to make antisemitic comments even with the police present.

Afghanistan International: Taliban Deepened Repression In 2025, Says Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch said in its annual report that the Taliban expanded repression in 2025 by tightening restrictions on women and girls, increasing media controls and presiding over a deepening humanitarian crisis. The watchdog said that it is while aid declined and migrants were expelled from neighbouring countries.

Times of Israel: IDF: Hamas commander who invaded Nir Oz on Oct. 7 targeted in Gaza strike

A commander in Hamas’s elite Nukhba Force who participated in the October 7, 2023, onslaught was targeted in an Israeli airstrike today, the IDF announces. The IDF says the strike in the Mawasi area of southern Gaza came as a response to an overnight attack on troops in the Strip’s north, during which a reservist officer was seriously wounded by Palestinian gunmen.

Yemen Online: Houthi Militia Storms Yemen Women’s Union Office in Ibb

Armed elements affiliated with the Houthi militia forcibly entered the headquarters of the Yemen Women’s Union in Al-Mashannah district of Ibb city, expelling dozens of women employees and trainees before shutting down the premises, according to local sources. Witnesses reported that Houthi gunmen, accompanied by members of the group’s female unit known as the Zainabiyat, broke the lock on the Union’s entrance and replaced it with a new one, effectively imposing a closure and preventing any further activities inside the building.

Times of Israel: India boots two British tourists posting anti-Israel propaganda, including swastikas

Indian authorities have ordered two British tourists to leave the country after they put up anti-Israel stickers in the western Indian town of Pushkar, local media reported yesterday. The Rajasthan Police say Lewis Gabriel Dee and Anueshi Emma Christine, both 36, violated the terms of their tourist visas by engaging in political activity. The pair allegedly pasted stickers reading “Free Palestine” and “Boycott Israel,” some depicting Israeli flags defaced with swastikas, in several locations around the city.

Reuters: Congo rebel leader claims responsibility for drone attack on strategic northeast airport

The leader of the AFC/M23 rebel movement in Democratic Republic of Congo has claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting the airport serving the strategic northeastern city of Kisangani, describing it as a warning to the government. Eight explosive-laden drones were launched at the airport over the weekend, but were shot down before reaching their target, the provincial government said.

 

Libya

Sydney Morning Herald: Neo-Nazi Jacob Hersant jailed after failed salute appeal

Self-proclaimed neo-Nazi Jacob Hersant arrived at court through the front door dressed in a royal blue suit and wheeling a small suitcase, but left out the back in a prison van after a judge upheld his jail sentence. Hersant will be imprisoned for one month after performing a Nazi salute outside the County Court in 2023, where minutes earlier he’d been sentenced for a Nazi-led attack on hikers. The 26-year-old was the first Victorian to be charged under then newly introduced legislation designed to abolish such gestures amid a rise in antisemitism.
