Dear friend,
This Black History Month, my team and I are celebrating the generations of Black Americans whose courage, leadership, and perseverance have shaped our nation.
Black history is American history. It’s the story of people who fought to expand democracy, challenge injustice, and make lasting contributions in every part of our society — from science and education to art, culture, labor rights and public service.
But in addition to celebrating this rich history, Black History Month is also a moment to reflect honestly on the work that remains. Progress has never come easily, and it has never come without sustained effort. Recommitting to that work means continuing to confront inequality, protect voting rights, and ensure that a chance to achieve the American Dream is not limited by race or zip code.
As we reflect this month, I’m grateful for the chance to listen, to learn, and to honor the legacy of those who came before us, and I hope you’ll join me in recommitting ourselves to building a more just future.
Thank you,
– Lori
