Recently, we received an email from a valued supporter. She asked, “Why are you embarking on the idea of environmental wellness?
My answer is quite simple: “Someone has to lead and it’s us.”
We’ve always been at the forefront of Alzheimer’s prevention going back many years. We have a legacy of firsts including being the first organization that revealed that Alzheimer’s is preventable by following a particular lifestyle.
We lead globally in research on meditation and memory, with more than 40 published papers highlighting the numerous benefits of Kirtan Kriya. No one else comes close.
Beyond that, just about a year ago, I read a 600-page advanced medical textbook called Alzheimer’s Disease and Air Pollution: The Development and Progression of a Fatal Disease from Childhood and the Opportunities for Early Prevention.
The book begins by revealing the story of an 11-year-old boy who was struck and killed by a car in Mexico City, one of the most polluted places on earth. At autopsy, it was seen that this 11-year-old had the brain of a 50-year-old, including many pathological changes of Alzheimer’s.
For decades, scientists have hunted for the biological spark that ignites Alzheimer’s. In addition to age, genetics, family history, and lifestyle, air pollution is now recognized as a hidden risk factor for this serious disease.
