Dear Friend,
Our Shepherd, Cardinal Burke,
offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for all the intentions of the
Rosary Warriors of Operation Storm Heaven, as well as for those who
submitted intentions, from his private chapel in Rome.
As many of you know, Cardinal Burke
offers the Traditional Latin Mass, as well as following their
liturgical calendar. February 1 began the Pre-Lent season called Septuagesima. The word Septuagesima is
Latin for “seventieth.” It is both the name of the liturgical season
and the name of the Sunday.
February 1, Septuagesima Sunday,
marked the beginning of the shortest liturgical season, which is 17
days. This season was created to help the faithful ease into Lent. You
will notice in the video that both the Gloria and the Alleluia are
omitted. His Eminence is wearing a violet-colored
vestment.
Homily Highlights
His Eminence spoke on the second
great cycle of the Church, after having completed the Christmas
cycle.
“Today we enter the second great
cycle of the Church, here having completed the Christmas cycle
celebrating the great mystery of the Incarnation, God the Son, second
Person of the most Holy Trinity, uniting our human nature to His
divine nature, so that He might suffer, die, rise from the dead and
ascend to the right hand of the Father, to win for us our eternal
salvation, to win for us the grace to live in Him, to overcome sin in
our lives and to live in Christ, to have a good and holy life in the
service of God and for the good and salvation of our neighbor. Today,
then, too we enter the second great cycle, which celebrates the
mystery of redemption, the finality of the Incarnation of our Lord,
even as we have been rejoicing over the past weeks of the Christmas
season in the great mystery of God's love for us, that to redeem us He
would send us His only begotten Son, to be one with us, to win in our
human nature the victory over sin and death.”
Cooperating with the grace of
Christ and the Holy Spirit.
“And so, we should never give way
to discouragement, we should never lose trust and hope, the work of
Divine grace given to us through the Incarnation of Our Lord for our
salvation, for our redemption. And we should be most realistic about
this. And we have this time now, three weeks before we enter the
season of Lent, under the realism of the grace of Christ and this
grace of the Holy Spirit poured forth. And so, during this most
blessed time, the second cycle of the church celebrating the great
mysteries of redemption, we'll go on to permit and to cooperate with
the grace of Christ in us, to transform our lives and transforming our
lives to transform our world.”
Open our lives to the work of God's
grace.
“Today, rightly so, many people are
concerned about the situation of our world. We seem to be even more
divided, even more threats of wars and of destruction. And of course,
we know too that the daily violation of the most fundamental norms of
the moral law, those regarding human life itself, the family and our
worship of God. As I say, we're rightly deeply concerned about the
situation. But what should we do? Well, this season that we're
entering now indicates to us exactly what we should do, namely, open
our lives in every aspect more fully to the work of God's grace. To
the work of Christ and Christ with us, and transforming our lives and
transforming that portion of God's inward and trusting and care, we
will contribute then to that which brings about peace in our world.
So, I urge you very much, Rosary warriors, you are constantly praying
for the needs of the church and the world to make this season, this
pre-Lent season and the Lenten season, which we’ll soon be entering, a
time of deep transformation and thus a time of transformation for our
whole society and for our world.”

May the Heart of Jesus, the
treasure-house of all wisdom and knowledge, have mercy on us and on
the whole world.
