I have an unlikely story to tell you.
I grew up as a racial, religious, and ethnic minority immigrant with 29 letters in my name.
My family worked hard to achieve the American Dream, but we faced tough times and had to rely on food stamps and public housing to get by.
But thanks to these programs, my parents’ hard work, and support from our community, we defied the odds and found a path to the middle class.
Look, there aren’t a whole lot of people with backgrounds and stories like mine in the halls of Congress.
When I first ran for office, some people thought that I didn’t have the right name, the right background, or the connections to win. It wasn’t the first time I was written off — but voters proved them wrong.
Together we defied the odds again – and I had the honor of being elected as Illinois’ first Indian-American Congressman.
Now, I’m trying to defy the odds one more time.
There’s a lot at stake right now — our democracy is under threat, ICE is running rampant and murdering U.S. citizens in our streets, and working families are struggling.
You can bet that Donald Trump and his far-right MAGA allies don’t want to see someone like me in the U.S. Senate. And they’re going to throw everything at me to stop us from winning.
That’s why I need to ask for your support. This is an uphill battle, but I know firsthand what defying the odds looks like — and I know we can do it again.
But early voting starts in less than 48 hours, and I’m up against a shady, dark money Super PAC that is running hundreds of thousands of dollars in misleading ads.
If we’re going to defy the odds, win this race, and flip the Senate blue, I need you with me right now.
Please, can I count on your support before voters hit the polls? [ [link removed] ]
Thank you,
Raja
