Dear John,
Chaos seems to be everywhere.
With another government shutdown just weeks after the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, along with the unrest continuing to unfold in Minnesota and across the country, the sense of instability only continues to snowball -- leaving many Americans wondering when, or if, civility and normalcy will ever return.
One thing should be increasingly obvious: human efforts through politics alone can't fix our societal ills, let alone the problems swamping our nation's capital.
While Family Research Council continues sounding the alarm and working on Capitol Hill to fix the immediate policy priorities affecting your faith, family, and freedom, we know that the ultimate solution to our nation's problems will not come about through man's efforts alone. The true solution to the problems plaguing America is to repent and turn to the Lord Jesus.
Moments like these remind us of an unchanging truth: national renewal begins on our knees all across the nation.
The Lord is not blind. He sees the terrible things unfolding in America -- the fraud, lawlessness, bloodshed, and corruption. If the blood of Abel cried out to Him from the ground, how much more so the blood of more than 63 million unborn children, slaughtered through abortion?
That's why, as we begin America's 250th anniversary year, FRC is gathering political and spiritual leaders from all 50 states to join in unified intercession for our country.
Tomorrow, on Wednesday, February 4, FRC is co-hosting with Dr. Jim Garlow, the fourth annual National Gathering for Prayer and Repentance in Washington, D.C. You can make plans to tune in from 7:00 - 10:30 AM ET by going to praydc.org, or by downloading FRC's Stand Firm App here.
This event is just one of the ways FRC is pointing lawmakers, citizens, believers and others to the true solution to our nation's challenges. Your partnership empowers us to expand the reach of events like this, bring biblical truth before our nation's leaders, and keep God's Word at the center of our national conversation as we equip believers through resources like our Stand on the Word Bible reading plan and more.
Will you stand with us as we continue calling our nation, its leaders, and the church to repentance and obedience to God's Word?
COUNT ME IN
250 years since our founding, it is incumbent upon us -- the stewards of liberty -- to recall and praise the Lord for the blessings and mercy He has poured out on America.
However, over the last few decades, our culture has increasingly turned away from God, rejecting His Word and trying to build our future on our own wisdom: socialism, individualism, materialism, sexuality, and other foolish things. In other words -- we are trying to build on the sand.
Jesus told us in Matthew 7:24-25, "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."
Our nation will not survive the next 250 years unless we rebuild on the rock. The evidence is before our very eyes.
The chaos that is rippling through Minnesota -- contradictory definitions of justice, love, right and wrong -- these are just the symptoms of the deeper problem.
But how do we begin to find our way home?
Let's start with prayer and repentance.
Family Research Council isn't just another policy organization in Washington, D.C. Those are nearly a dime a dozen. We are unapologetically Christian in our approach, diagnosis, and prescription.
We are actively working day in and day out to anchor our nation's public policy to biblical truth, fighting for the unborn, publishing policy briefs, educating Congress, defending religious liberty, and pushing back against the lies of transgenderism and twisting of human sexuality that have already cost American families so dearly.
When you partner with us, you are helping to convict and drive the consciences of our leaders and lawmakers -- providing an unchanging anchor point that centers on the Word of God. Will you partner with us in this critical, redemptive work today?
I'M WITH YOU TONY
While so much of what FRC does is important -- fighting the daily battles in Congress, the White House, against the mainstream media, and more -- I firmly believe the outcomes are decided by our dependence on the Lord.
"...Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6).
Just as Abraham sought mercy for Lot in Sodom, just as Joshua extended his hand and the Lord made the sun stand still, just as Gideon trembled but sent home thousands of his men, just as Peter begrudgingly cast his net to the other side -- God is calling on us to play a part in these battles.
I do not pretend to know what the future holds. But I do know this: by faith we can trust God to lead us to victory. If we repent, seek His mercy, and abide in Him, then we can rest assured that He will work out His master plan not only for us as individuals, but for our entire nation.
Tomorrow, please join us in prayer, and ask the Lord to hear us, bless the United States -- and draw our people back to Him.
