Lawmakers are trying to make it easier for anyone to access high-powered “less-lethal” weapons without a background check — and the consequences will open up an entirely new criminal ghost gun market. We’re counting on supporters to speak out before it’s too late: John, will you add your name to Brady’s urgent petition to Congress and urge lawmakers to vote NO on this dangerous bill? This should outrage you, John — and we need your help taking action right now.
Across the nation, innocent people are being tased, teargassed, and pepper-sprayed by masked federal agents with little to no accountability. Two protestors were permanently blinded after being shot in the face with so-called “less-lethal weapons and a reporter was concussed after being shot in the head with rubber bullets. With supposedly trained federal agents causing these injuries, it is not difficult to imagine the carnage that individuals with violent criminal histories can inflict with unregulated access to these serious weapons.
Right now, some members of Congress are trying to deregulate high-powered “less-lethal” weapons that are classified as firearms, making them accessible without a background check — not just for law enforcement, but for ANYONE.
They’re pushing a bill deceptively called the “Law Enforcement Innovate to De-escalate Act.” It’s a gift to the billion-dollar “less-than-lethal” weapons industry, which profits from civil unrest and violence. Worse yet, this deadly legislation would open a new market for untraceable ghost guns — the preferred weapons of violent criminals.
Now is not the time for Congress to unleash MORE dangerous weapons, especially ghost guns, into our streets without regulation. John, will you join us in taking action BEFORE the upcoming vote? Urge your representative to vote NO on this reckless legislation NOW! [[link removed]]

This legislation would unleash ghost guns into our neighborhoods and communities by changing the definition of “firearm” and creating a giant loophole in federal law.
Anyone — including domestic abusers, gun traffickers, and minors — would be free to buy explosive-powered “less than lethal” weapons without a background check. Then, they would only need to make easy modifications to turn them into a very lethal firearm, and an untraceable one at that, with no background check or questions asked.
Already, there are zero barriers for law enforcement to access and use “less-than-lethal” weapons in the line of duty. Imagine if everyone, everywhere, enjoyed the same lack of barriers and could stockpile ghost guns.
This is the opposite direction our country should be headed. So, please, urge your representative to oppose this deadly bill and focus on real solutions that will reduce gun violence — not increase it.
