John, we’re sending a strong message to ICE:
You will not weaponize local police officers against their own communities in the state of New York.
That’s why I proposed legislation that bans ICE from using our local police officers to enforce their reckless actions.
Public safety will always come first, but it must be pursued lawfully and with humanity.
This past year, we’ve seen masked federal ICE agents carry out unspeakable, violent acts against civilians. Those abuses will not stand in New York.
When boundaries are crossed, accountability matters. No one from the president on down is above the law.
Let me repeat: No one.
So John, will you stand with me and demand ICE be held accountable? If you're with me, add your name here. >>
John, know this:
I’m working to make it easier for New Yorkers to hold ICE agents accountable.
If someone’s constitutional rights are violated here in our state, I say they deserve their day in court.
It simply affirms a core truth: Power does not justify abuse.
And no matter the dangerous, blatant abuses Washington D.C. unleashes, rest assured:
I’m going to fight like hell to keep New Yorkers safe.
Ever upward,
Kathy Hochul
