Dear Mr. John xxxxxx

We fought hard, and we won. Yesterday, a federal judge blocked the end of TPS for Haitians, halting the removal of 350,000 hard-working individuals and families from the United States.

This is a major win for South Florida and for our strong immigrant communities. This decision confirms what we all knew to be true: our nation can't be at its greatest without Haitian immigrants, who contribute close to $3.4 billion annually to our economy.

The judge quoted an amicus brief I led with over 80 other members of Congress, showing that all of our voices are being heard. Above all, it showed that during a time when immigrants are under attack, our nation can still acknowledge the value immigrants contribute to our nation.

Right now, immigrant families across the country are terrified for the day when ICE may come to their neighborhood, or to their door. Every day, people's constitutional rights are violated by an agency that refuses any transparency, accountability, or oversight. After the deaths of two innocent citizens in Minneapolis, ICE made it clear there is no line they won't cross.

Until strong, drastic reforms are put in place that guarantee proper protections for our communities, I will not send a dime to DHS and ICE. That’s why I will continue to vote NO. I have also introduced four amendments to the DHS funding bill that would reduce funding for ICE and protect detainees.

This fight is far from over, but I want you to know that we are fighting and winning in Washington: in Congress and in the courts. Our voices are being heard, and our fight is being rewarded with real results. And get this, we’re just getting started.

Sincerely,
