Telephone Town Hall Announcement

Dear New Jersey,

On Friday, February 6th, funding for the Gateway Tunnel Project will run out due to a funding freeze put in place by the Trump administration last October. This means that work on the Gateway Tunnel Project will come to a halt in 3 days unless the funds previously approved by Congress are unfrozen.

Join Senator Kim for a Telephone Town Hall on the Status of the Gateway Tunnel Project

On Friday, February 6th from 6:30-7:30 PM, join Senator Kim for a live briefing on the state of the Gateway Tunnel Project and the fight to resume funding. Listen to the telephone town hall, and ask questions, at https://kim.senate.gov/town-halls.

The Gateway Tunnel Project is critical, not just to New Jersey’s transportation system and economy, but to the entire nation. It wouldn’t just mean lost jobs in New Jersey (construction for the Gateway Tunnel Project currently adds 95,000 jobs to the workforce), but it would also be a massive hit to our economy nationally as the project is expected to bring $445 billion in economic benefits by 2060.

This isn’t a political issue. This is an investment in our future. Democrats and Republicans alike want this project to continue, and we can’t afford to let the funding lapse.

Let’s get people back to work, support our local businesses, continue connecting our communities, and move our state—and our country—forward.

We are here for you.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you in the United States Senate. It is an honor and a responsibility we do not take lightly. We know these are difficult times, and we will continue to fight for everyone across the state of New Jersey and stand ready to serve you however we can.
