This morning, I stood outside ICE headquarters in Washington, D.C. and
said what a lot of folks in power are too scared to say out loud.
Enough is enough.
No agency of our own government should be allowed to terrorize our
communities. Period. No caveats. No asterisks.
ICE has ripped families apart, targeted children, trampled civil rights,
and operated with zero accountability for far too long. And the leadership
at the top — including DHS Secretary Kristi Noem — has allowed it to
happen. That’s why today, I stood outside ICE and called for her firing
and real accountability for their abuses.
Let me be clear: this fight is not abstract to me. It’s personal.
As a Black woman in America, I know exactly what happens when the
government decides some people are disposable. I know that if they come
for one of us, they will come for the person standing right next to you.
History has taught us that lesson over and over again — from chattel
enslavement to today’s detention centers.
And I refuse to be quiet while it happens again.

I don’t take money from corporate PACs. I don’t answer to ICE lobbyists or
fear-mongers. I answer to you — working people who are tired of seeing
their neighbors targeted while politicians look the other way.
That’s why I went straight to ICE headquarters today. That’s why I said
what needed to be said. And that’s why I’m not backing down.
Here’s the truth they don’t want us to say out loud: We should not be
funding our own terror. Not one more dime.
I’ve helped introduce legislation to end ICE detention altogether and
redirect those dollars toward community-based services, legal support, and
real humanitarian care. I’ve pushed for oversight when DHS tried to hide
abuses behind locked doors. I’ve demanded answers when ICE used unmarked
vehicles, masks, and even foreign spyware to intimidate and surveil people
on American soil.
And yes — I’ve signed articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Kristi
Noem because accountability isn’t radical. It’s required.
But none of this happens in a vacuum. Every time I speak truth to power,
the backlash comes fast and furious. The pressure is real. And the only
way we keep pushing forward is together.
