*Gaming Control Board Director Henry Williams Urges Michigan Residents to Bet Safely on Super Bowl LX: Stick to Licensed Platforms*
DETROIT, Feb. 3, 2026 — With Super Bowl LX just days away, the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) is reminding Michigan residents to place bets responsibly and exclusively through MGCB-authorized sportsbook operators and online platforms.
“Super Bowl weekend brings excitement and energy for football fans across Michigan,” said *MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams*. “We want everyone to enjoy the game safely and responsibly, and the best way to do that is by wagering only with licensed operators approved by the MGCB. Betting through unauthorized offshore sites or any other unlicensed entities puts your money—and personal information—at serious risk.”
*Why Legal Platforms Matter*
Only MGCB-authorized operators are regulated to ensure fair play, secure transactions, and responsible gaming protections. Unlicensed offshore sportsbooks or other illegal gaming markets may offer tempting odds but can expose bettors to identity theft, unpaid winnings, and other financial losses. Michigan residents who use legal operators also have access to tools to monitor and limit their betting, including deposit, wager, and time restrictions, as well as self-exclusion programs.
*Responsible Betting Tips for Super Bowl LX:*
* *Set a Budget:* Only wager what you can afford to lose. Treat sports betting as entertainment, not income.
* *Use Licensed Operators:* Check the MGCB website for a full list of approved online sports betting providers and operators [ [link removed] ]. Avoid offshore sites and unregulated markets entirely.
* *Understand the Game:* Know the odds, bet types, and rules before placing wagers to make informed decisions.
* *Leverage Responsible Gaming Tools:* Authorized platforms offer self-imposed limits, voluntary self-exclusion, and other safeguards to help you maintain control. Michigan also provides statewide self-exclusion through the Responsible Gaming Database [ [link removed] ] and the Disassociated Persons List [ [link removed] ] for commercial casinos in Detroit.
The MGCB encourages all Michigan residents to explore additional responsible gaming resources at Michigan.gov/MGCB [ [link removed] ] and DontRegretTheBet.org [ [link removed] ]. Those seeking guidance can also call 888-223-3044 to speak with an MGCB Responsible Gaming Section representative.
“Enjoy the thrill of the game, but do it safely,” Director Williams added. “By sticking with regulated operators, Michigan bettors can protect their money, their data, and themselves while keeping Super Bowl Sunday fun and worry-free.”
"Gambling in any form is for entertainment purposes only. If you or someone you know may have a gambling problem, call *1-800-GAMBLER* or visit ""800gambler.org" [ [link removed] ]". Help is available 24/7 and is free and confidential.
