Dear Herbert,

The Florida House recently voted to lower the minimum age for purchasing a firearm from 21 to 18. Their decision attempts to roll back a key piece of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, a safeguard we fought to pass after the Parkland massacre which was committed by a 19 year old who legally purchased the weapon that was used to murder 17 and wound another 17 people in less than seven minutes.

We experienced the devastating consequences of not having laws and policies in place to help keep the students and teachers that day. By reducing the age to 18, a vital layer of protection preventing tragedy from happening to other families has been eroded.

This is a step in the wrong direction, but it is not a sign to give up. Our commitment to school safety is stronger than ever, because we know families across the country are depending on it.

If you can, please chip in $25 to help us keep up the momentum for school safety. [[link removed]]
