John,
For decades, out-of-state corporations have dumped climate pollution into our air and water while we bear the costs. We are losing homes and even people’s lives to wildfires, floods, and extreme heat. These polluters always knew this was happening, but continued to do it while piling up massive profits with no accountability.
Oregon lawmakers have the power to hold these mega corporations accountable – adding your voice is critical to ensure they hear us [[link removed]] .
SB 1541 would create the Climate Resilience Superfund to ensure the largest out-of-state fossil fuel polluters pay their share for our safety and recovery from climate disasters, rather than Oregonians. For too long, taxpayers and our local governments have footed the bill for these corporations.
Can we count on you to take action now and tell legislators to shift the cost to these out-of-state corporations? [[link removed]]
Imagine an Oregon where it’s big polluters who pay to protect our homes from wildfires instead of us footing the bill. Where financial assistance is available to install energy-efficient cooling and air filters to protect against heat and smoke. Where our utility bills, home insurance, and local tax burden see some relief, because wildfire prevention and disaster recovery are paid by out-of-state polluters, not Oregonians.
