[link removed] [[link removed]] John,In September, Reps. Chip Roy and Seth Magaziner cosponsored a bipartisan a proposal to ban lawmakers from trading individual stocks, called the Restore Trust in Congress Act.
This legislation would prohibit members of Congress, their spouses and their dependent children from trading in or owning individual stocks, bonds and other securities. And it’s cosponsored by nearly 100 Democratic and Republican members of the House.
Unfortunately, some members have chosen to advance a much weaker bill instead, called the Stop Insider Trading Act. It would allow members to keep their existing investments, and it would not prevent members from taking official actions that would increase the value of those investments.
That bill is a farce that maintains the status quo and provides members of Congress with loopholes so that they can continue to enrich themselves, all while claiming to advance meaningful reform.
The American people are demanding a REAL congressional stock trading ban. Can you co-sign our demand for reform and show Congress that we won’t settle for this joke of a bill? If you’re with us, please add your name today → [[link removed]]

For years, questionably timed stock trades by members of Congress have eroded public confidence in the institution and in our lawmakers.
That’s why our team at CREW has been working hard to pass meaningful reforms to ensure public servants work in the best interests of the people—not for personal financial gain. We’ve testified to Congress, exposed suspiciously timed trades and put pressure on congressional leadership to act.
But despite broad, cross-partisan public support for a congressional stock trading ban, Congress has been unable to pass legislation that confronts these widespread conflicts of interest.
Now that momentum is building around the issue, we need to make sure Congress passes a bill with real teeth that would actually prevent members of Congress from trading stocks.
CREW is working to apply pressure, pass this bill and restore public trust in Congress—and we need your help to get this done.
We want to show that an overwhelming majority of Americans support a real ban on congressional stock trading. Please, co-sign today and join us in urging Congress to pass the Restore Trust in Congress Act → [[link removed]]
