Defender,

There’s a unique wolf population in the far Northwest that needs your help!

Alexander Archipelago wolves are a subspecies of gray wolf that makes their home along coasts from southeast Alaska to Canada. The situation for these wolves has grown so dire, that we’re calling for them to finally be listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

Stand with us today and demand that these wolves get the legal protections they need to survive!

TAKE ACTION: Tell the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to list Alaska’s Alexander Archipelago wolves under the Endangered Species Act, before these wolves disappear altogether!

Friend of Defenders, the threats are real. One sub-population of these wolves on Prince of Wales Island in southeast Alaska saw a record-high 165 wolves killed in a two-month period this past winter – out of a population last estimated at only 170 wolves!

Throughout the forests where they live, these animals are increasingly vulnerable to threats from industrial logging, road building, trapping and hunting, and large-scale habitat loss.

ESA protections could change the fate of these wolves for the better. We can’t wait any longer – tell FWS to protect Alaska’s Alexander Archipelago wolves from the danger of  extinction while there’s still time!

Please take action today, and be a force for good on behalf of vulnerable wildlife.

Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,

Shawn Cantrell
