John —
Black History Month is a time to honor the Black trailblazers and barrier-breakers on whose shoulders we all stand. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for justice, and the importance of protecting the rights to which we are each entitled.
|
In the labor movement, we know that what affects one of us affects all of us. That's at the heart of both the civil rights and labor movements. Black leaders throughout history have shown us what courage in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds looks like and during this time of great challenge, we look to their lessons to affirm our future. Economic justice and racial justice are inextricably linked, and this month and all year long we look back to Black history as a source for critical lessons for our fights today.
