I wanted to reach out personally because over the past few days, this campaign has hit a real turning point.

With your help, we’ve built strong momentum. We’re leading. And that’s exactly why the attacks have started. Before I go any further, I want to ask directly: if you’re able, would you consider making a contribution today to help us respond and keep this campaign on track?

You may have already seen them. Negative ads aimed squarely at me, from candidates and outside groups that can’t make a compelling case for themselves, and can only win by tearing others down.

One of these ads is especially cynical. It twists a vote I cast years ago, alongside most Democrats in Congress, to claim I support policies I’ve spent my career opposing. The truth is simple: I’ve been a consistent advocate for immigrants’ rights, and I’ve urged Congress to defund abusive enforcement and mass deportation policies. That record hasn’t changed.

When powerful dark money groups come after me, and all they can muster are obvious lies, I take it as a compliment. Because here is what they really don’t like:

That I’m guided by my principles, not by big donors. That I’ve never taken corporate PAC money, and never will. That as a Congressman I pushed for stronger ethics rules and banning stock trading by members of Congress, and put my own assets in a blind trust so I could focus on the job without conflicts. That’s not popular with everyone in Washington, but it’s the right thing to do.

Over the next few weeks, millions of dollars will be spent trying to define this race for voters. That’s why I’m asking again, if you can, to chip in today and help us meet this moment head-on.
