Right now, the people of Yemen are facing unimaginable violence. Every hour for the last five years, more than 90 people have had to flee their homes, and more than 100 have gone hungry.
And now COVID-19 is spreading across the country, "adding one more layer of misery upon many others," according to the UN relief chief. The death rate of COVID-19 in Yemen is 25% - five times the global average.
The conflict in Yemen and the scale of devastation as a result of COVID-19 are inextricably linked: amid the on-going crisis, only about half of the health centers in Yemen are fully functioning, and more than half the population has no access to clean water - which means no ability to wash their hands to prevent the spread of disease.
We're pushing for action to end the root causes of the devastating violence that have caused this crisis, but we urgently need more support to do so. That's why we're launching a 24 hour emergency match campaign to raise $10,000 for the Oxfam America Action Fund to fight for families in Yemen and beyond.
Will you join us to fight the laws and policies that keep people trapped in poverty? Make a donation before our MIDNIGHT fundraising deadline and it will be matched >>
