The killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti revealed the extent of the violence and depravity of Trump’s gang of masked thugs and is galvanizing most of the public against ICE. 

One thing is now crystal clear: without witnesses and legal observers being able to record their abuses, ICE would have gotten away with literal murder. Twice. 

That’s what makes the HALO Act so dangerous. 

Introduced by Florida’s unelected Sen. Ashley Moody, the HALO Act makes it a felony carrying up to five years in prison for protesters to ever be within 25 feet of federal officers. Without definition, it penalizes anyone who “threatens, interferes with, or harasses” a federal officer.

Moody is protecting ICE and trying to prevent legal observers and bystanders with cellphones from recording what ICE and Border Patrol are doing. If Moody’s bill were law, we would never have known what happened to Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
