Our world is full of opportunities for direct action, community-building, and taking steps towards the society we want to see. With so much going on, it's easy to feel overwhelmed when looking for a place to plug in.

Join the PPT Monthly Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11th for a power-mapping activity where we identify our own power and strength, and learn how we can make a difference in the movement for Transit Justice.

February 4th is an important day: 

It's gonna be a day for big celebrations. Will you join the crew for warm beverages, sweet treats, and reflections on the work we've done and the road ahead?

We'll meet at the Cedar and Pressley Inbound Stop, near 301 Cedar Ave in the North Side. Expect special guest speakers and more ways to take action in support of more shelters in more neighborhoods!

You've rallied, you've sent letters to your elected officials, you've testified at agency meetings, you've spread the word—we know that the state transportation budget is top of mind for you and your neighbors. All eyes are on Governor Shapiro to propose a budget that truly meets our needs in his upcoming Budget Address. Join us to watch the Budget Address together, call for transit as a priority in the budget, and build community with advocates across PA. 

Join on Tuesday, 2/3, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. You can join in-person in Pittsburgh (or Philly), or choose to watch virtually via Zoom alongside advocates all across the state. Registrants can also RSVP to join a response to the budget address at 3 PM, hosted by Penn Policy Center, Transit for All PA!, and other statewide organizations.

There's only one event where transit riders, transit workers, and advocates in the Transit Justice movement come together to share skills and build our power. There's only one place where all these comrades, from across Pennsylvania and the country, can network, kick back, learn, and (of course) ride transit. And lucky for you, it's Pittsburghers for Public Transit and Transit for All PA's Organizing Spring Training!

This year, Spring Training will take place March 20-21, culminating in a full day of training in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood. Expect a weekend packed full of gems like:

Our workshop lineup is a heavy hitter this year—we've got panels and activities on Worker/Community Solidarity, Bus Mayor Elections, Big Tech in Transit, Movement Communications, and so much more.

Whether you're a veteran transit organizer or fresh to this movement, there's something for you at Spring Training.

Calling all data dogs, database managers, and spreadsheet enjoyers in the Transit Justice movement: PPT and Transit for All PA! are hiring a Digital Organizer—Data Lead to manage our digital infrastructure, data strategy, and online-to-offline organizing funnel.

If you've got experience with databases, digital tools, and community organizing, we want to hear from you! Apply by February 20th for guaranteed consideration; we will keep the position open until we find the right candidate. 

For those outside Allegheny County, Transit for All PA! is hiring for two paid transit organizing fellowships in Lancaster and the Lehigh Valley!

More than a week after the snow fell, so many bus stops, curb cuts, walkways, and public access spaces are still impassable. As a result, disabled people and people with mobility issues are still stuck in their homes and on their blocks. Bus riders are forced to clamber over feet-high snowdrifts, and pedestrians across the city must cross icy, slushy sidewalks to get where they need to go—an impossibility for many people with mobility aids or visual impairments.

While this should be a job for public infrastructure, we can help clear the way now for our neighbors. The Pittsburgh Center for Disability Justice has put together a form where folks can request, or provide, help shoveling public rights of way across the city. They have also offered to cover the cost of shovel, ice melt, gloves, buckets, and hand warmers for volunteers. 

If you need a public area near you cleared, or would like to volunteer to help shovel, please read PCDJ's post to learn more and sign up.

In this movement, we fight for freedom of movement for all, regardless of race, class, and immigration status—real or perceived.

We encourage all in our community to sign a petition supporting an Allegheny County ordinance that would prohibit the County from assisting ICE.
