With an unabashed Democrat named Taylor Rehmet, who ran on affordable housing, public schools, and worker rights.
It was a 31-point shift from Donald Trump to Taylor’s win. Yeah. That happened, y’all.

Taylor Rehmet just made history in Senate District 9 — a district that has been in Republican hands for a generation. A place where conventional wisdom said Democrats couldn’t win. And guess what?
Conventional wisdom was dead wrong.
This was a seat no one thought we could flip. But whether it’s SD-9 or Prop 50, when given the resources, Texas Democrats have the votes and the support. I’m telling you folks, it’s THERE.
I’m feeling a lot of things today, but one thing I’m not feeling is surprised, not one damn bit. We’ve been telling the world there are more future Democrats in Texas than y’all think. We just have to run good candidates, we have to connect with voters on the issues they care about, and we have to turn them out. And that’s exactly what we did.
We’ve got so many more fights left to win yet this year, and we cannot let our foot off the gas for a minute after a win like this. We have organizing to do across the state, the general election season is barely a month away, and battles on multiple fronts with a GOP that now knows what we’re capable of.
