Registration for November Lobby Day opens Sept. 3

CCL will continue the push to move the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act forward in Congress with the November Lobby Day (Nov. 11-12). Registration opens on Sept. 3. The conference will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Monday (Nov. 11) will start with Climate Advocate Training for new volunteers or the Organizing and Team Building Workshop for experienced volunteers. Afternoon sessions will prepare us for lobbying meetings the following day.

Tuesday (Nov. 12) we’ll go  to Capitol Hill for meetings with congressional offices. There will be a reception back at the hotel Tuesday evening.

Registration will be $99. Check CCL’s website on Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing folks in D.C.!

Lobbying: 'Happy birthday! I talked to my rep'

CCL volunteer John McGarry, a congressional liaison in Michigan, had a thinking-outside-the-box request for his birthday: He asked his family in Pennsylvania  to meet with their Republican Congressman, Scott Perry, and ask him to support the Energy Innovation Act. John’s brother Dan, who had no prior experience with CCL, got a face-to-face meeting with Perry. He contacted CCL Regional Coordinator Jon Clark for advice, and the two of them met with Perry. “Dan did a wonderful job and the meeting went well,” reports Jon. So, happy birthday, John! And, yes, that’s Rep. Perry with the big smile in the photo above with Dan McGarry (middle) and Jon Clark.

CCL volunteers are regularly activating the “five levers” of political will in their communities. To talk with other CCLers about their lobbying and get advice or ideas for your own, head to the “Lobbying Congress” forum on CCL Community.
