Greetings,
I hope this message finds you well and that you and your family had a happy and healthy start to the new year. As Congress begins its work in 2026, my focus remains on delivering real results to the people of Georgia’s Thirteenth District and making life more affordable for working families.
Too many families continue to feel the pressure of rising costs for healthcare, housing, and everyday essentials. I am committed to advancing policies and solutions that lower costs, strengthen access to care, and ensure no family needs to go hungry to make ends meet. That includes continuing the work to protect Affordable Care Act tax credits that improve affordability across our healthcare system.
This January, I am focused on our Georgia families, expanding workforce training and apprenticeship opportunities, and preparing our community for changes in the economy—including the growing role of Artificial Intelligence. Just as importantly, I am working to protect the independence of the Federal Reserve, which plays a critical role in maintaining economic stability and keeping inflation in check for families and small businesses.

Investing in Our Community
This month, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted to pass all fifteen community projects I requested for my district, totaling nearly $14 million. As your Representative, my number one priority is to work with state and local leaders across the thirteenth district to understand how I can best direct federal resources to the most pressing needs in our communities.
This round of funding will go towards repairing roads and sidewalks in Jonesboro and Stockbridge, upgrading Gwinnett and Newton County pipelines for residents to access clean drinking water, supporting Rockdale Veterans, and creating good-paying jobs. These are vital resources to improve basic infrastructure and lower costs for working families, and I am proud to deliver these investments in every part of our district. Read More HERE.
Holding ICE Accountable
The Trump administration is out of control. They have unleashed untrained Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents into Minneapolis and other cities around the country. Under Secretary Kristi Noem’s failed leadership, federal immigration enforcement operations have included multiple shootings of civilians, detentions of American citizens, and needless escalation across the country. What is most disturbing is that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials have contradicted first-hand accounts and video evidence, raising serious concerns about their use of force policy and oversight capability.
The militarization of ICE is eroding trust in our government and tearing families apart. Renee Good and Alex Pretti should be alive today, and countless law-abiding immigrants should be with their families. ICE must be held accountable, and that is why I voted no to increase ICE funding and have called for independent investigations, accountability for individual ICE agents, and an immediate end to militarized immigration raids.
Protecting the Federal Reserve
The weaponization of the Justice Department under the Trump Administration is unprecedented. The only way to characterize their move to subpoena the Federal Reserve and its Chairman Jerome Powell is as a pretext to undermine the Federal Reserve’s independence. As a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, this is disturbing. The independence of the Federal Reserve is essential to our economy. Threatening criminal charges against the Fed Chair is deeply troubling and demands serious scrutiny.
I believe Chair Powell has served with honor and admiration under both Democratic and Republican administrations. His commitment to keeping inflation down and maintaining healthy markets has led our economy in the right direction. Unfortunately, thanks to Donald Trump’s failed economic agenda, American families are seeing the cost of basic everyday goods continue to soar. Working families are suffering.
Pressuring the Fed and allowing Fed policy to bow to political preference will only weaken our economy. Congress has a responsibility to defend Fed integrity and prevent any new central bank nominations from moving forward until all politically motivated charges have been dropped. Read More HERE.
Extending ACA Tax Credits
Earlier this month, the House of Representatives passed House Democrats’ bill to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits. I voted yes because no Georgian should have to choose between paying their health insurance bill and putting food on the table. Access to these tax credits has been a lifeline for working families, seniors, and small business owners across our state and across the thirteenth district. For months, President Trump and Congressional Republicans played partisan games, which allowed premiums to rise, creating unnecessary anxiety for thousands of Georgians who depend on affordable coverage. My vote was about fairness and keeping a promise to the American people.
Because of the enhanced premium tax credits, ACA enrollment has more than doubled, allowing 24 million Americans to afford quality coverage. Families were not forced to choose between groceries and doctors’ visits, seniors could stay on the plans they preferred, and self-employed individuals could keep access to affordable health insurance. I am proud that, as a result of Democrats’ unified voice and a small number of honorable Republicans, Congress will keep premiums from surging by an average of 114%. Read More HERE.
