I believe people should choose their politicians — not the other way around.

But when states like Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina began gerrymandering their congressional maps at the behest of President Trump, they sparked a dirty race to the bottom. And I understand the urge of many of my Democratic colleagues around the country to respond and level the field.

Here in Maryland, the General Assembly is considering a new map that could affect my own district.

I’m supporting legislation to reform the redistricting process so that every state plays by the same fair rules. And no matter what state lawmakers ultimately decide, I’m ready to hit the ground running and win, the right way.
