Lt. Governor Tressel’s WorkOhio Kickoff Tour Makes Stop in Warren
 Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel visited workforce development, business, education, and community leaders from the Youngstown area and across the Mahoning Valley for an event kicking off his new WorkOhio program. The Lt. Governor was joined by officials from the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition (MVMC) – the WorkOhio Regional Job Hub for Eastern Ohio – as well as numerous other organizations serving as "Community Connectors" through the program.
(WARREN, Ohio)—Ohio Lt. Governor Jim Tressel traveled to Warren today for the seventh and final stop of his statewide WorkOhio Kickoff Tour.
WorkOhio is a new initiative launched by Lt. Governor Tressel to connect Ohioans with in-demand jobs in their area through personalized support from teams of regional job experts.
“The Mahoning Valley is full of people who want to work, grow, and build better futures for their families, and right now is an incredible time to be looking for a job in this region, because opportunities are everywhere,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “WorkOhio is about helping people discover all the opportunities at their fingertips. By connecting job seekers with local experts who know the best jobs, industries, and resources in eastern Ohio, we will help people reach their full potential.”
 Lt. Governor Tressel spoke in front of a group of local leaders from Eastern Ohio at Monday’s event. Through the new WorkOhio program, the area’s Regional Job Hub and Community Connectors will work as a team to connect Ohio job seekers with available resources and job opportunities.
Through the website WorkOhio.gov, job seekers can request one-on-one support from a local job expert in their region or explore training programs, job resources, and career tools tailored to their background and goals. Read more about the program here.
Today’s event was organized by the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition (MVMC) – one of seven Regional Job Hubs across the state leading the WorkOhio effort.
“We’re incredibly excited to get started with WorkOhio and to be part of a statewide effort that’s truly focused on connecting people to opportunity,” said Alex Hertzer, Executive Director of MVMC. “This program aligns perfectly with the work we do every day – meeting individuals where they are, partnering closely with employers, and building pathways to good, sustainable jobs. We commend Lt. Governor Tressel for his leadership and vision in launching WorkOhio, and we’re especially excited to collaborate with our community connectors to make a real, measurable impact across our region.”
WorkOhio’s Job Hubs will partner with a network of “Community Connectors” – trusted local organizations that are already working in Ohio’s workforce ecosystem and know the area’s top industries, employers, and workforce needs. Through WorkOhio, these organizations will work as a team to help Ohioans find job opportunities, training, and support services that match their personal goals.
The initial list of Community Connectors in the Eastern Ohio region includes:
- Community Counseling Center of Ashtabula County
- Compass Family and Community Services
- Flying High Inc.
- National Center for Urban Solutions
- United Returning Citizens
- Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries
Additional organizations – including workforce organizations, educational institutions, community service providers, and more – are welcome to join the WorkOhio effort as Community Connectors. Many have already expressed their commitment to doing so.
