Island County Planning and Community Development released draft comprehensive documents for public review. Read on for more information on how to comment and upcoming meetings and engagement opportunities.  

Draft Materials Released for 60 Day Public Comment Period

As part of the 2025 Comprehensive Plan update, staff have released draft elements, development regulations, and SEPA environmental review for public review and input. Public comments will be accepted until 4:30 PM on February 9, 2026. Visit our website for more information and details on how to comment.

Other Engagement Opportunities

Long Range Planning will be meeting with the Board and the Planning Commission in January and February to discuss the draft materials for the 2025 Comprehensive Plan update. Work sessions at the Board and Planning Commission on the draft comp plan materials are planned for the following dates and topics (materials can be found in agenda center the week prior to the meetings).

The planned meeting dates & topics include:

  • February 4 – Economic Development and Clinton Subarea Plan
  • February 11 – Joint Meeting between the Board and Planning Commission to discuss outstanding policy updates on the draft materials.
