EU governments just backed the EU–Mercosur deal — supercharging
deforestation of the Amazon.
Agribusiness lobbies are celebrating.
But it’s not over: the European Parliament will vote in just a few weeks.
If we act now, we can help MEPs stop this toxic deal for good.

John,
They’re raising their glasses.
EU governments just voted for the EU–Mercosur deal — a dirty trade pact
that would supercharge deforestation of the Amazon, slash food and
environmental standards, and push small farmers to the edge.
Big Ag lobbyists are cheering. But the final vote hasn’t happened yet.
That’s where you come in.
The European Parliament will vote in just a few weeks. If enough of us
speak up now, MEPs will feel the pressure to reject the deal. The Council
vote passed by just 3.5% — one of the slimmest margins in EU history. This
is a political house of cards. We just have to push.

Let’s be clear: This deal would boost exports of beef, soy, and timber
tied to illegal deforestation in Brazil. It would bring banned pesticides
and antibiotics into EU food chains. And it would drive down protections
for workers, animals, and ecosystems on both continents.
Some politicians say the deal includes “safeguards.” But hundreds of
scientists, Indigenous leaders, and civil society groups across Europe and
South America are calling it what it is: a corporate giveaway at the worst
possible moment.
We’ve stopped bad trade deals before. Together, people power stopped TTIP.
We can do it again — but only if we act now, before the final vote.

We’ve already pushed governments like France, Ireland, and Austria to vote
no. Now, the movement is turning to Parliament — the last line of defense.
Let’s show them that people across Europe are ready to defend the Amazon,
for food sovereignty, and for climate justice.
