February 2, 2026

Dear Georgian,

The United States Department of Agriculture has designated 42 counties across South Georgia as eligible for emergency loan assistance through the Farm Service Agency (FSA) for drought severity during this past growing season.

Georgia's 8th district counties included in the designation as primary and contiguous are: Atkinson, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Cook, Crisp, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes, Jeff Davis, Telfair, Tift, Turner, and Worth.

Farm operators are eligible for emergency loan assistance based on their application that considers the extent of farm loss and repayment ability. Additional information on USDA's disaster assistance program can be found here

The Congressional Art Competition for 2026 is officially underway. All high school students (9-12th grade) who reside in or attend school in the Eighth Congressional District are encouraged to participate.

The winning entry will be displayed in the United States Capitol for a year alongside artwork from every congressional district across the country.

All artwork must be framed and submitted by April 17th at one of the following drop-off locations:

Rep. Scott’s District Office in Warner Robins: 120 Byrd Way, Suite 100, Warner Robins, GA

Rep. Scott’s District Office in Tifton: 127-B Central Ave N, Tifton, GA

2025 Congressional App Challenge

I want to congratulate our 2025 Congressional App Challenge winners!

Well done Aarin and Aarav Dave, from Lowndes High School! These brothers have won in past years and continue to produce great work together.

Their app, InformER, works to create safer, cleaner, and more efficient emergency rooms by providing health care professionals with information they need.

Celebrating Lowndes County 200th Anniversary

During last week’s County Commission meeting, I was able to help celebrate Lowndes County's 200th Anniversary by presenting a proclamation that was entered into the Congressional Record.

For 200 years, Lowndes County has been a valuable part of our community. Home to Valdosta State University, the Grand bay Wildlife Management Area, and Moody Air Force Base, Lowndes County plays a critical role in the growth and progress of our great state.

Visiting Walmart Dairy Facility

Last week, I toured the Walmart Dairy Facility in Lowndes County, which celebrated its grand opening late last year.

This facility sources its milk directly from Georgia grown dairy producers, represents a $350 million investment into our community, and created 400 new jobs.

We are proud to host this facility right here in Georgia's 8th district.
