Let’s greet the week, Fairfax Dems!
The news from Minnesota has been sobering — but we’re not sitting on the sidelines. Fairfax Democrats are showing up for our neighbors, and Virginia lawmakers are leading — pushing back on harmful DHS funding and fighting for fair redistricting. That’s leadership in action, reported here in your weekly news.
Just 10 days after reorganization, your new FCDC team is on the move — strengthening digital tools, expanding voter outreach, and opening new ways to get involved. Ready to learn more? Check out our volunteer opportunities — then join me for our first Chair Chat this Friday, February 6, 2:00–3:00pm. I can’t wait to see you there!
Please join us in congratulating Dominic Thompson as he steps into a new role as Political Director for the Democratic Party of Virginia. His leadership has strengthened FCDC, and we’re grateful for his work — we know he’ll make an even bigger impact at the state level. We’ll post the job announcement later this week. If you or someone you know is ready to help lead our next chapter, we encourage you to apply.
Onward! And always together.

Chair, Fairfax County Democratic Committee

"Vote YES" Virginians for Fair Elections Campaign
|
|
|
|
“Today, we followed through on our commitment to appeal the Tazewell ruling. This decision was legally flawed, unprecedented, and the product of court-shopping designed to block Virginians from voting on their own Constitution. We remain confident we will prevail, and we will continue moving forward to put this question directly to the voters – where it belongs.” Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell

Sen. Mark Warner appears on Jen Psaki's MSNOW show on Thursday, Jan. 29 to discuss the recent FBI raid on an elections facility in Georgia, Tulsi Gabbard's involvement, and what this all means for attempts to meddle in our elections.

Rep. James Walkinshaw: State and local law enforcement agencies across this country have some basic standards. Federal agencies should too. The DHS funding bill needs explicit language reining in Trump’s out-of-control immigration enforcement, and violators need to be disciplined and fired.
