Click here HealthPlatform.News(letter)February 2, 2026 In this week’s edition of health news across the states: Trump unveils plan focused on costs, transparency; J&J joins government push to lower drug prices; Study links UPF to disease Plus: Stephen Hemsley, United Health Group: The price of hospitals, specialty services and prescription drugs President Donald Trump unveiled what he is calling “The Great Healthcare Plan,” a four-part framework aimed at lowering drug prices, reducing insurance premiums, holding insurers accountable and expanding price transparency across the healthcare system. Johnson & Johnson reached a voluntary agreement with the U.S. government to lower certain prescription drug prices for patients and participate in a federal direct-to-consumer pricing platform. The agreement also included exemptions from proposed tariffs tied to domestic manufacturing. The largest scientific review to date published in the Lancet links consumption of ultra-processed food (UPF) to a dozen diseases and chronic health conditions such as obesity, heart disease, depression, type 2 diabetes and cancer. Today, nearly one out of every five dollars spent in our country goes toward health care. Forty years ago, it was half that rate, and it steadily climbs each decade. Support HealthPlatform.News
