Hi, today’s the first day of Black History Month.

Over the last year, we have seen Donald Trump and his allies try to erase the monumental accomplishments of Black Americans.

Diversity is our nation’s strength — it always has been. The best of America has been people of all backgrounds coming together around one common purpose: building a better future. No matter how much hatred or division is being spread, nothing can change that.

This Black History Month, I will be honoring the accomplishments of Black leaders who came before us and paved the way for a better future – a future where someone from a middle-class Milwaukee background like me could become the first Black lieutenant governor of Wisconsin.

One of those leaders is Frances Huntley-Cooper, Wisconsin’s first Black mayor. She grew up in a segregated town and has dedicated her life to public service, helping disadvantaged communities aspire and achieve. I am humbled to have her endorsement in this race.

Because of the legacy of leaders like Frances Huntley-Cooper, I am dreaming a little higher to become our state’s youngest and first Black governor. And I will use every power of the office to raise wages, lower premiums, and fund public education so everyone can have the opportunity to thrive in our diverse democracy.

Today, I’m asking you if you can help us make history in this election. Please make a donation of any amount that is meaningful to you so we can deliver for Wisconsin and turn the page on a politics of division.

If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process now.
