Huge news in Texas last night: Democrat Taylor Rehmet flipped a state Senate seat that Donald Trump won by 17 points — despite being outspent 10:1.
Something big is happening in Texas.
Republicans have held this seat for decades — which is exactly why special interests poured tons of Big Money into this race.
Most pundits considered Taylor Rehmet’s campaign a dead end. But his win delivers a clear message: Texans are sick of the Trump administration’s tariffs, ICE raids, foreign wars, jailed journalists, and abuse of power.
Taylor won this seat because he built a broad coalition based on addition — not division. He built a tent big enough for anyone willing to join. He fired up Democrats, and he did significant outreach to independents and disillusioned Trump voters to offer them a home in his movement to take back power for working people.
The polling is clear that James is the best candidate to do this at the top of the ticket. He’s promised that not a single voter will be taken for granted. He can rally Democrats, inspire new voters who may have given up on this broken political system, and bring people over to our side.
That’s the approach we need if we want to win Texas. A movement of, by, and for the people.
