It’s very, very easy to feel hopeless at this moment — when we’re looking for leadership that we’re not seeing, while headline after headline makes it feel like the good people have already lost, and more.

But I know in my heart there are more good people than bad, and that the change we need is possible and actionable. We just need the right unifying leaders, rooted in the needs of everyday people, and who will use every lever in their toolbox to protect our values.

That's why this campaign will always be about the real conversations I have with Californians about the issues we face. And it's why we won't insult you by celebrating half-measures or show votes as meaningful reform while people wonder where their next meal comes from, or whether they're safe from federal forces.

I'm also not going to insult you by asking for your support without keeping it honest with you, so here's the truth: We're less than five months from our primary election, and contributions from grassroots donors like you will directly affect how much work we can do to reach California voters. We have a lot of ground to cover and a lot of competition, so earlier investments — like right now — will make all the difference.
