BCJ - State Voting Laws Roundup: 2025 in Review [[[link removed]]
The data is in, John, and it's not good. 16 states enacted 31 new suppressive anti-voting laws in 2025 . According to the nonpartisan Brennan Center, this is the second-highest total since they started tracking voter suppression laws in 2011. Check out this map:

Last year, in fact, we told you that the Brennan Center said " states enacted more restrictive voting laws in 2024 than in any year in the last decade except for 2021 ". 2025 just beat that.
The implications for the upcoming midterms are huge. We're barrelling towards one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime and every state marked in red on that map made it harder for eligible voters to cast a ballot.
John, this is the fight of our lives. Opponents of voting rights are trying to make the progress we've made a distant memory. Help us push back with $35 or whatever you can today to make every voice heard in our elections >> [[link removed]]

Need more facts? Lawmakers in 47 of our 50 states proposed suppressive legislation in 2025 . More is on the way, with more than a half-dozen suppressive bills pre-filed in states like Arizona, Virginia, and Missouri that allow for pre-filing ahead of state legislature sessions. None of that includes bills filed in legislatures that already started sessions in January, either.
It's all part of a pattern two decades in the making. From attacks on mail-in voting to suppressive citizenship proof requirements to legalized partisan election interference , suppressive state legislators in states across the country are trying their best to harm our fundamental right to vote.
Unlike the opponents of voting rights driving these new restrictions with their dark money millions, we believe that everyone’s voice should be heard and every vote should count . That's why we need your help to preserve and protect our democracy now.
Standing up for our fundamental right to vote is the only answer. Pitch in with $35 or however much you can today and defend mail-in voting, early voting, drop boxes, and so much more nationwide >> [[link removed]]

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
Your support is crucial to our efforts. Will you donate today to help us protect voting rights? [[link removed]]
