Then Came September 14, 2021

In the early morning darkness, a 911 call reported burglars—one armed with a handgun—attempting to break into a home. Officer Oldrati and Corporal Layton responded. What happened next was captured on audio: an armed man pointing a gun at officers, refusing repeated, loud, clear commands to drop his weapon.

Officer Oldrati had seconds—mere seconds—to make an impossible choice: allow a threat to continue, potentially costing his life and his fellow officer's life, or act to neutralize it. He did what he was trained to do. What his oath demanded. What any reasonable person would have done.
